UBS operations or Merrill Lynch pwm? Which internship will help me more in the long run?
I'm currently entering my Junior year this fall, and would like to know which internship would help me more in the long run. I'm not 100% sure if I want to do ibanking, but what I'm trying to do is build a name for myself, and beef up my resume. Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated
UBS
If you're debating these two internships for your fall semester or for the full school year, you should take the PWM, as it's more front office than ops. Either way, in my opinion, ML is a stronger firm, period, and so a more front office experience there is far better than a back office position (even if at Goldman).
ML PWM
Ditto
I'd definitely say Merrill.
I don't think it makes much difference whether you do PWM or Ops, but Merrill is a more respected bank on the street.
thing is...im going thru HELL right now...trying to get college credit for the Merrill Lynch internship...they are real stringent on that you HAVE to receive college credit...I still haven't declared my major so technically I "can't" receive college credit, but I still applied to both internships anyways. I could give a damn about college credit, both internships are unpaid, and I'd be willing to not receive college credit and do one of them at the same time. Only if they knew how hungry I am for this shit, then MAYBE they would forget about the dumb college credit rule.
Talk to your advisor at school and see if there's any way around the rule / who you need to talk to in order to take the ML position...
