citadel fundamental trading vs eb ib?

Hi, current junior at a west coast target who has accepted an ok eb sa offer in a west coast tech group. recently, citadel securities posted an application for a fundamental trading position which I applied to on a whim, and they responded asking for potential interview times.

Wasn't too serious about it but does anyone have any thoughts? Which would have higher salary/prestige? Better exit opps? Please let me know

They convert 1/3 of interns i think for the fundamental analyst internship. Better than EB pay but not sure about progression. If you are interested in trading, probably take it. People who don't convert it can usually go to other tier 1/2  prop shops if they are good at math.

Well, this is a bit of a tricky one, isn't it? Both options have their own unique advantages.

On one hand, working at an elite boutique (EB) investment bank can offer you a deep dive into the world of M&A, and potentially set you up for a transition into private equity or other high finance roles. EBs are often seen as prestigious and can provide a solid foundation for your career.

On the other hand, a fundamental trading position at Citadel Securities could offer a different kind of excitement. Citadel is a well-respected name in the industry and the role could offer a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. The compensation can also be quite attractive in trading roles.

In terms of prestige, both are highly regarded in their respective fields. As for exit opportunities, it really depends on what you're interested in. If you're leaning towards a career in investment banking or private equity, the EB might be a better fit. If you're more interested in trading or hedge funds, Citadel could be the way to go.

Remember, it's not just about prestige and salary, but also about where you think you'll thrive and what kind of work you'll enjoy. So, take a moment to consider what really excites you about each role. Good luck!
