i don't know how true that is, but im' sure this year we'll see a lot of ER analysts with much lower bonuses...i mean if bankers aren't raking in business, what good is ER
I just received an offer letter that was 65 + 10. Minimum bonus is not stipulated in the letter, however, the partner that called me to make the offer specified that the bonus was expected to be "at least 65".
So, I think that maybe the OP isn't really far off, but man, it sure would be nice to have that bonus number is writing.

That's why the offer seemed so strange to me. It's one thing to hear anecdotally about a year end bonus, but I've never seen a "guaranteed minimum" bonus in writing - seems like the company really leaves itself exposed.
I work for a PE fund and we effectively have a guaranteed bonus floor, but in writing I've never seen anything beyond "assuming strong performance by you and by the fund..."
btw at sanford bernstein you'll def get more responsibilities which i suggest u do...they're pretty good at energy ER...look into them...i have a buddy taht works there
that's pretty solid. we've got 2 guys at my school that got an equity research gig with 100-110 base, sign-on (probably 5-10, not sure which), and then a bonus of 30-50. Sorry for the ballpark figures, but it's definitely somehwere in those ranges. I'd take that large base over the lump-sum bonus Im gonna get at my BB anyday. Pretty sweet for a guy right out of undergrad.
you're telling me kids working in ER straight out of undergrad are making 100-110 base w/ 5-10 sign on, and 30-50 bonus?? Laughable, and absolute bullshi* by the way.

did you see the letter?
I can't imagine any firm, particularly right now, that would set a minimum YE bonus at 133%+ of the base.
i don't know how true that is, but im' sure this year we'll see a lot of ER analysts with much lower bonuses...i mean if bankers aren't raking in business, what good is ER
That comp structure is completely out of market. If this job actually exists, your friend should take it.
Sounds too good to be true. Hopefully, its not at BoA
haha...not bofa...
all i can say it's a boutique focused on just m&a and some financing
aka Rothschhild?
aka Rothschild?

sorry but can't disclose that info
i hope you guys can respect that
any takers?
Heard Evercore offered 85k or 90k base, plus 15-20k signon...

hey freeload or anybody else who is in the know...what's expected bonus like at evercore?
my buddy works at lehman er...loves it there...more prestige in ER, that's my take
goldman is powerhouse in almost every other area...i wasn't familiar withh their less than stellar ER group...what's their rank>?
Is this a bulge bracket firm (Investment bank) or a boutique?
End of Thread
I assume M&A?....im jealous
No clue about Evercore bonus...only knew about base+signon as a roommate's brother got an offer from there over the summer.

lehman on top goldman at 9
here are the facts
I would be thrilled to get that letter.
I assume he went to a target school for his undergrad?
JP & Bear are makin some serious leaps & bounds here...
I can see restructuring making some big bucks for the boutiques that specialize in considering that the U.S will probably head into recession!
Gotcha.
cmon now, do i have to hold your hand and guide you thru the site
just click on energy link
itslehman, surprise surprise!
Rare, but definitely not unheard of. My offer letter from Miller Buckfire had a built in bonus, so definitely plausible.
duplicate post...apologies
It wasn't near 80 at all. This was not for this recruiting season.
in for a long stretch
eeek
Bear Stearns offered the Fixed Income Trading group 60k salary and a minimum of 30k for bonus.
How is it a performance bonus if it's stated before you perform?
I'd take the offer, sit on my ass for a year (doing enough not to get fired), collect the bonus and move on.
was he a summer analyst there? did they just really want to keep him?
btw at sanford bernstein you'll def get more responsibilities which i suggest u do...they're pretty good at energy ER...look into them...i have a buddy taht works there
but hey if u can get lehman why not :)
my sign on bonus at a BB was a grand sum of $0!
never heard of that...sorry to hear that, that's a shame

he has a point there
i hate macs!
Not a 100% correlation, but I won't argue against that.
I hear Lehman ER is top of the class. Is this true?
I'm surprised to see Goldman so far behind in ER. Not their strong suit, but still.
