Are there any differences between MBA and JD-MBA business core courses content and electives?
Hi! I’m interested in JD-MBA but I’m not sure if I will learn the same about business (finance concentration) as in the MBA.
Are there less business subjects taught in the JD-MBA?
It will the the same to have a JD-MBA or MBA to break into IB?
Thanks a lot!
^Not saying everything T30 has to say is wrong, but this guy is notoriously anti-anything-lawyer related so take it with a bit of a grain of salt
Holy shit dude, you went to an average law school, did big law for a few years, and left. It didn't work out for you. That doesn't mean no one with commercial interest should ever be a lawyer.
Just do an MBA if you want to do IB. You’re taking on more debt and opportunity cost on the time.
I would only get a JD if either:
1) You have some sort of family money (i.e., the excess debt and year of foregone earnings is a non-factor) and want to spend a little more time in school, AND find law interesting
2) You’re hyper-focused on Rx banks that value a JD (e.g., PJT’s group)
Otherwise it’s a waste.
To be clear (and my post wasn’t), the intended list was really meant to be “Reasons to get a JD with your MBA,” not JD in isolation.
JD will teach you totally different things than the MBA. If you never want to practice law the JD portion would be a waste. Just my opinion.
