Accepted to SSE and Bocconi Undergrad... What Should I Choose?
I recently had the privilege of being accepted to Bocconi and SSE for undergrad. My goal is to land a good IB role in London right out of my bachelors. At SSE, I can avail free education, whereas at Bocconi, I have to pay 16,000 EUR/annum - a cost I am willing to bear if the school prestige can carry me far enough. What are your suggestions for my next steps?
P.S. I also got accepted to RSM and CBS. I am not inclined towards those schools as I hear that Bocconi and SSE are better for London IB placement - can you confirm?
Both are great schools with lots of IB placements with Bocconi being slightly ahead.
I would suggest you to choose based on the city/experience you want to live in, as I believe that the difference between the 2 will not impact your ability to land a good IB spot.
Not really sure how easy it is to place out of Undergrad tbh. Yes you will find tons of people on Linkedin who did that but you also have to take into account the underlying base population of people enrolling.
I studied at Bocconi for my masters and the finance master was full of Italian Bocconi undergrads who would sell their own mother for an IB stint in LDN. It is literally their only goal / persona to work in London because the Italian job market is not the greatest.
All of these had great grades going into the master and sure would have love to start working already out of undergrad but did not make the cut.
Just to be aware - I am sure it is possible but for sure no golden ticket.
Never seen this type of phrasing for a native tongue hahaha
Ah, the classic dilemma of choosing the right academic launchpad for a high-flying career in investment banking! Both Bocconi and SSE (Stockholm School of Economics) are prestigious institutions that can open doors in the finance world. Here's a breakdown to help you swing from tree to tree in this decision jungle:
Bocconi University:
Stockholm School of Economics (SSE):
As for London IB placement, both schools have strong networks and alumni presence. However, Bocconi might have a slight edge due to its location and historical presence in the European finance sector. That said, SSE is also known for its quality education and has been making strides in international placements.
Next Steps: - Research the alumni network of both schools in London IB. LinkedIn can be a great resource for this. - Consider the overall financial impact, including the opportunity cost of not working while studying. - Reach out to current students or alumni from both schools to get their take on recruitment and on-campus activities related to IB. - Look into the specific programs and courses each school offers and see which aligns best with your career goals.
Remember, the name on your diploma can open doors, but it's your performance, networking skills, and internships that will truly set you apart. Both schools are excellent choices, so you may want to go with your gut on where you think you'll thrive the most. Swing high, future banker!

Would pick SSE it is free. Get good grades and save for a good master
Is SSE also free at master's level?
I believe for EEA students
Guys, I'm in the same situation right now. Considering that I don't speak any Nordic languages or Italian, which one should I go for?
Many thanks.
