Opinions on 'irrelevant experience' for spring week CV's
Talking kitchen jobs, hospitality, retail, arts and culture etc.
Thinking about 2024 spring week applications here, coming into first year of a three year degree and looking to send in applications as early as possible i.e unlikely to be able to include relevant university society memberships/roles.
After a look through some of the CV's posted looking for tips/advice, it seems what's included in 9/10 cases is either direct finance, consulting etc. internships or ambassadorial positions at school/uni. Any definitive advice on whether to include less focused experience which still has a clear transferrable skills link?
Wait until university started and you build up your experience
I'm surprised you've seen many spring week CVs of people with that much experience. I certainly haven't.
Irrelevant experience is better than white space and I don't think banks expect you to be rocking up with countless relevant experiences as someone who turned 18 probably less than 6 months ago.
What matters most is applying early. There's really no experience you're gonna get in your first 2 months of uni that will be worth adding to your CV. So your options are 1. Apply with your best CV now. 2. Wait 2 months and apply with your best CV + ??? Probably nothing else. 3. Apply now with white space on your CV and hopes and dreams. 4. Don't apply. The choice is easy.
Crystal clear.
Landed 6 springs with no finance experience, only finance society roles
dont mean to be rude but are you diversity?
just read someone on wso saying the CV's are not scrutinised very heavily, so im curious what banks might be selecting for
