Real Estate Investment Firms

I have an interview for a SA gig with a large real estate investment firm. I'm currently a finance major but I'm somewhat unfamiliar with the process of real estate investing. I'm curious as to what sort of information, technical skills and other things I should brush up on before the interview. Also, I'm very curious as to what the day to day looks like at one of these firms.

I have on SB left and would be happy to give it out in exchange for some insight.

No worries about the SB or not

First, what kind of firm is it? REIT? REPE? Pension Fund? Some sort of behemoth like CBRE?

As far as skills, you're going to want to just brush over property valuation, cash flow, cap rate calculation, and maybe even a waterfall model or two. Not sure how much of that you'll be doing as an SA, but it's still good stuff to know.

Information-wise, know the market(s) the company works in and maybe look up a few of their past deals to discuss. They might ask your thoughts on how to valuate a property, the market, etc. As always, the important thing is to be able to back up whatever answer you give them.

Day to day depends on what kind of firm it is though

I doubt they'll ask about waterfalls in an SA interview....just be sure you know the basics first before you even touch anything like that. Have a general opinion on where the general market is going. But honestly, I get asked mostly fit in FT real estate interviews. With internships, I'd be willing to bet it's almost all fit, especially considering you have no RE experience.
