Greybrook Toronto lol
Greybrook is apparently poking personal references early in processes without your consent. They have 5-6 postings open for acquisitions and dev jobs in this job market which can only be a red flag. From what I’ve heard, there is a mass exodus happening there with a ton of people getting constantly hired and fired, and people leaving. Avoid this place unless you want your former boss/current boss called without your consent early in the process. Fuck these guys.
interesting that this post was made just as i had a recruiter reach out to chat with me about Greybrook. I asked why they had so many open positions (from analyst to senior associate, i think 5 or so in total) and she said it was because they were growing 🤔
didn't realize there was a mass exodus as it seems like their team page is still relatively the same, but i did meet at guy at a networking event who was let go from there a few months back. i might reach out to him to see if he knows more about the mass hiring/firing
If it was who I think it was 360Matrix, I would avoid that process entirely. From what I heard, a guy did an HR round, passed it, and right after that someone at Greybrook contacted his former company. He did not consent to that, 360 matrix turned on him and said,” you should’ve kept your references up-to-date.” Meanwhile this guy never provided references to begin with or consented to anyone being contacted to. That place seems super scummy. I doubt there was a mass exodus; probably what happened was they were all fired for not meeting their “work hard play hard wear multiple hats” culture.
Did you end up going through the process?
Nah I chatted with the recruiter but had previously (like a year ago) tried to go through the process with greybrook so I guess that excluded me from being able to be represented by a recruiter.
guess I dodged a bullet lol
They are constantly hiring for at least one or two junior roles. It's always stood out to me as a red flag. I've heard culture is poor, bad hours, but good pay. Seems like lots of turnover at junior levels.
There is NO WAY that their current listings are because they're growing in this environment. They solely invest in ground-up for-sale residential developments. Almost nobody is building today. Easy math.
Yeah it’s easy to see what’s going on. What’s happening is these guys are hiring and firing juniors less than a year into their jobs. You’d think they’d learn the first time. Ridiculous…
Adding Crestpoint to this as well, seems like they’re constantly hiring and there’s been tons of turn across all levels as of late.
I can't speak for hours or culture, but I can directly speak to pay based on what I've seen. Looks to be around 80-90k for a senior analyst, likely around 100k all-in.
I know a former coworker who’s been there for two years and loves it. Comp is good and hours are decent. Also if you have decent RE knowledge you’re a standout
