Betting on a small PE future

Hey,

How you guys see a career in a small/medium Private Equity with not much tradition? I'm during recuiting season and I'm considering going to Private Equities with 2-5 billion in aum rather than a BB. The PE's in question are relatively new, are not facing any difficulties to raise capital and it's, in most part, owned by big names in the financial industry. But the main factor is: I'm gonna make 50% less than working in IB at MS, JPM, etc in the short term. What should I be cautious when taking that decision (betting in the PE success in the long term)? Any stories?
