Series 63 / 7 / SIE
Hey guys,
Just accepted an offer in MBS S&T (sales desk analyst) and I am asked to complete the series 63/7/SIE exams. What is the most effective way to study for all three and pass all in one go? Should I be studying each test on its own, or should I mix in a little of all 3?
I've been using STC (securities training corp), but have found that the videos and the text are somewhat different. The flashcards are meh and it seems like the custom practice exams are diff from the "final" exams that are part of training.
All tips and resources are appreciated. Looking to hearing from you guys! Thanks in advance!
Study each test on its own. SIE and Series 7 are pretty much the same with the main difference of that the 7 goes into more depth of the topics that you'll learn studying for the SIE and also the extra 60 questions. Series 63 is pretty straight forward it's just the memorization of state securities laws. Don't underestimate the 63 though, I think a lot of people do and it ends up biting them in the ass. Can't speak to anything on STC as I used Knopman for when I took my licensing exams. Read the textbook initially then just watch videos and answer qbank questions till your scoring in the mid 70s.Generally the actual exam is almost always easier than practice tests. At least that was the case for me. Good Luck!
Thanks mate. The 63 was really short, I am almost done w/ it. Did you use a notebook to write down any notes or did you just go straight for the practice problems?
Note taking helps 100%. I didn’t take notes when initially reading the textbooks but I did start taking notes as I was making my way through the q banks. I would note down questions I got wrong and try to go over them every day or so. Things that were harder for me to grasp I would go back to the textbook and then take notes on those chapters.
The book is good to have for a reference but it's a waste of time to read it cover to cover. Spin through the videos and flash cards to get a base of knowledge and then just take the quizes and exams over and over until you have consistent passing scores. Do one test at a time but there is significant overlap with the info for all three of those exams so after you take/pass one exam jump right into studying for the next. Be consistent with your studying, if you let too much time between studying from one session to the next you'll essentially be taking 2 steps forward and one step back. Do at least some studying every day even if that's just one quiz. Also, don't forget to actually review the practice tests and quizes after taking them so you know what you are getting right and wrong.
Don’t read the books. Complete waste of time. Take practice quizzes and you’ll be good
Hey,
Did you purchase study materials for SIE or used some free study material online to prepare?
