Hello from Germany;)

Hello,
my name is Lu. Im from Germany and 22 years old. Currently I'm in my second year of law school. Beside university im working for an american law firm with main area in finance and economy law. Now my question: I want to work in an investment bank, but i don't have any economy studies at the moment. How are the possibilities to work in an investment bank as a lawyer? Its quiet hard to find informations about that. Maybe someone here know something.
Are the possibilities higher if i start a second subject, may "finance"? If I also wanted to apply for an intership as a lawyer but the rules are quiet hard, they only want people with 1. Staatsexamen, which you get in germany after 5 years.
At the moment my thematic priority in law school is law and finance. Im going to graduate with german "staatsexamen" in 2015.

Another question: Are many women working in investment banking?

Thanks for your help:)

Hey there, don't know any law guys in banking (you should fine some via Linkedin/Xing if they exist) but can confirm that I've seen quite a few women in M&A in London and Frankfurt who're doing really well, so go for it.

Caveat: make sure the lifestyle suits you. I am not sure how having a family works for women in banking. You can always bail out, of course.

There are lots of former lawyers (typically in corporate law) in investment banking as the legal background is very helpful. The most common route is a few years at a law firm following by an MBA to start as an Associate. I have not seen any Analysts who came from law school directly.
