Fund Suggestions for Move to Dubai / Abu Dhabi
I'm currently a 3rd year Associate at an NYC based UMM PE fund (8-13bn latest fund size). I'm contemplating a move to Abu Dhabi / Dubai - mostly for family reasons.
Do folks have ideas on funds based out there that I can join?
I've contemplated SWF's like Mubadallah and ADIA, however it seems that they mostly just do co-investing. Having worked with co-investors the level of rigour just isn't there. They're mostly taking sponsor DD packs and copy / pasting (much like some private credit deals I've worked on). I could have the wrong impression and they do direct, internally sourced deals so would be great to get context from folks.
Other issue is comp. Have heard that there's no carry and cash comp upside is limited at these SWF. I make 225k base / 1x bonus / 150 - 200k of carry dollars at work. Have heard US based VP's have 4mm in DAW, so want to know if making that much is ever possible or basically out of the question.
