Fired for blowing the whistle internally at a large public pension 2.5 years ago

Expressing concern in writing over investment decisions that came at the cost of beneficiaries resulted in my employment being severed - appealing the termination has resulted in being able to 'voluntarily resign', however, I have been unable to reach my former colleagues to serve as a reference.

Its been 2.5 years and I have participated in ~130 interviews for ~62 roles and been a finalist for 4-5 roles.

References have only been requested once but I suspect I am not receiving a job offer because I am either being too transparent while interviewing by explaining my employment ending as outlined above or because my former employer is unreachable to validate work experience responsibilities or my former employer is providing disparaging feedback over the phone.

Should I omit the name of this employer on my resume moving forward?

Provide less information regarding my departure while interviewing? (simply say it was not a good fit?)

Continue being transparent while interviewing believing my former employer is not providing disparaging remarks regarding my employment?

Thank you

Speak to an employment attorney, if you were retaliated against you may have a claim.

Don’t waste your time on this forum with it.  Most places will not speak about your former employment other than verify you did work for them or you didnt. Anything else opens them up to serious liability.
