Vanderbilt for IB ?

What are your opinions on Vandy for IB. Rankings are generally top 25-30 for IB placement online but I wanted to ask if anyone has experience there and the network.

I’m looking to transfer after my freshman year at U of Rochester, and Vanderbilt seems like a good fit, as transfer acceptance rate is generally pretty generous compared to other targets / semi targets. (Assuming good stats and curricular)

Vanderbilt University indeed has a strong reputation in the realm of investment banking, particularly due to its loyal alumni network and the fun, engaging campus environment. With a transfer acceptance rate ranging between 25-33%, it presents a relatively generous opportunity for students like yourself looking to transfer from institutions such as the University of Rochester.

Most of the banking recruitment at Vanderbilt comes from southern banks like Harris Williams, Stephens, SunTrust, Raymond James, and Wells Fargo, as the student body tends to be southern-focused. However, securing positions in New York City is also a viable path, with a significant number of Vanderbilt alumni making their way into firms like Bank of America. In fact, Vanderbilt is noted to follow closely behind Wharton in terms of the number of analysts placed at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

If you're considering transferring to Vanderbilt for investment banking, the strong alumni network and the school's placement record in both southern and NYC banks could indeed make it a fitting choice, assuming you maintain good academic and extracurricular records to bolster your transfer application.

Not a target per say as there’s no established finance program, but good amount of alumn on the street and landing an IB gig should be very doable.

As a former transfer (not to vandy) I would generally recommend it. Even if vandy or other similar schools are only a sem-target and far from a guaruntee for breaking in to banking, it will be better than UofR. And once you are in banking, even though it is not the most important thing, going to a more prestigous school can make a large difference with how headhunters and firms view your profile for buyside recruiting.

if you don’t mind me asking, what school did you transfer out of and where to? Stats? My hs gpa is around 3.9 unweighted with 5 aps total. I think I can manage 3.7+ freshman year too. Plus i am going to be on varsity swim + plan on joining clubs for extracurriculars. What schools do you think are attainable?
