Stop excerpting ancient comments into 'sticky' threads
@WallStreetOasis.com"
I've been getting a series of mention notifications lately where some comment from 5-10 years ago is now included in the body of someone else's thread post. Today a whole batch came through at once. Examples:
- Morgan Stanley Bank Resource Management
- What Color Socks With Brown Shoes?
- Cole Haan And Allen Edmonds Shoes
It doesn't seem like a great idea to edit some user's original post and embed an answer to his question directly in that OP. It's confusing at first read and makes it look like someone is asking and answering their own question in the same post.
It gets worse when that embedded answer is comprised of snippets of comments other users posted + pictures you've pulled from the web + blog-style recaps or analysis of general sentiment from the WSO Reviews.
I get the ongoing need to create evergreen content and the urge to drive site traffic, maximize SEO, and optimize retention, but this feels super clunky.
