Question for Middle-Market PE Professionals
Hi All –
This question is for those working, or those who have previously worked in middle-market PE. Specifically, those with experience in Strategy Consulting or Corp. Dev. and PE. I have received two offers from middle-market PE firms ($900MM AUM in Midwest and $2BN AUM in NYC) and am wanting to double-click into the real difference(s) between my current role and the Associate role of a middle-market PE firm.
I have found in my current role that I really enjoy doing deals, but given the fact that I am working for a large corporation I find myself getting bored as things move at a much slower pace than I am accustomed to in my past life.
Any commentary on key differences (both hard and soft skills/lifestyle/etc.) between my past roles and working in PE would be appreciated.
My experience:
Top-tier Strategy Consulting (MBB) - 3 Years
Fortune 100 Corp. Strategy and Development – 2.5 years - current
Note: both positions are post-MBA Associate roles
