Ohio University, Ohio State University, or Cleveland State University
Hi, so here's the stitch,
I'm currently a high school senior (in name only, I've already completed the required amount of credits last year) taking duel enrollment classes at a local community college before graduating and transferring to a university in June. I want to go into Equity research (don't mention how it's "dying", I'm well aware, only using it as a pathway into Hedge Funds after working there for a year or 2 because Investment banking hours are just......no ~_~) and I'm weighing my options on where exactly I should go. I've already been accepted to Ohio University, partially accepted to Ohio State (wasn't admitted to the Columbus campus, but was admitted to the Mansfield campus with the ability to transfer after 2 semesters or cramming 30 credits into 1), and my parents want me to apply to Cleveland State since its closer. Which of these colleges will give a better ROI in terms of gaining internships, valuable networks, and etc? Are students even recruited from these colleges? I planned to work hard and network like crazy to compensate for not going to a T-10 school or even a school in New York.
If money isn't an issue, ohio state is by far the #1 choice. That doesn't really carry over to the branch campuses though, so you'll want to transfer asap (taking 30 credit hours in a semester is not feasible). If you're planning on transferring anyway, though, and money isn't an issue + you want to stay in CLE, you can try out Case Western. I'm not sure how I would compare CSU and OU. But you can check out regional ER shops like Longbow, Northcoast, Cleveland Research Company, Key, etc
I think I'll potentially go with Ohio State if that's the best choice. Would it be better to apply for internships at those regional shops before making my way to New York? Money is a "partial" issue however, would the extra debt at Ohio State be worth it than going to the other schools?
Probably ohio state, I'm suprised you didn't get in anywhere better given you took a significant amount of dual enrollment
Due to my parents, I wasn't able to go to New York. Otherwise I would have tried Fordham, Pace, or NYU.
