Mizuho ER vs. RJ ER
Which firm would you pick for ER? Any specific benefits in terms of brand name or would the analyst / team matter more?

Career Resources
Ah, the classic dilemma of choosing between two firms for Equity Research (ER)! Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's how I'd swing through the decision jungle:
Brand Name: Mizuho is a well-known, large international bank with a strong presence, especially in Asia. Raymond James, while also reputable, has a more regional focus in the United States. The brand name might carry different weights depending on where you aim to work post-ER or the markets you're interested in.
Analyst/Team: This is where the rubber meets the road. The quality of your experience in ER will heavily depend on the analyst you work under and the team you're with. A supportive team, a knowledgeable and respected analyst, and a good culture fit can make all the difference. It's not just about the firm's overall reputation but also about the specific sector coverage and the expertise of the team.
Learning and Development: Consider which firm offers better training programs, mentorship opportunities, and a track record of developing analysts. The right environment can accelerate your learning curve and career trajectory.
Exit Opportunities: Look into the historical exit opps from each firm. Where do analysts tend to go after their stint in ER? This can give you a clue about the firm's industry standing and network.
Culture: Don't underestimate the power of a good cultural fit. You'll be spending a lot of time at work, so it's crucial to be in an environment where you feel comfortable and motivated.
Work-Life Balance: Equity Research is demanding, but the intensity can vary between firms. Consider what you've heard about the work-life balance at Mizuho and Raymond James.
In the end, it's a personal choice. If it were me, I'd swing from the trees to gather as much intel as possible, talk to current and former employees, and then make a decision based on which firm aligns best with my career goals and personal values. Remember, no matter where you go, it's the skills you build and the relationships you forge that will truly make your career flourish!

Please don’t make me
Do it
I’ve spoken with the DOR at RJ. Very nice guy and he told me that RJ was ranked 11th in II and climbing.
Not too sure about Mizuho, but I’m fairly certain RJ overall is better.
RJ doesn’t do II ranking though
