How to move internally from internal consulting to ER?

Hi all.

I graduated back in May 2023 and started working at a BB as an 'internal consultant' on the consumer/small side. Its a two year rotational program, ending around Mar 2025. The work is okay (lots of data org/analysis and powerpoint), the hours are phenomenal, but I'm not happy with the position/pay. I've been interested in ER for quite some time and was hoping to internally transfer from consumer to sell-side (i know it's difficult). Currently studying for CFA L1, waiting a couple of more months before I start networking w/ individuals on teams I'm interested in, and slowly learning modeling (need to ramp this up). Given the state of my program and internal politics, it would be in my best interest to finish out my rotational.

Just wanted to hear input from individuals as to viability, success stories, or any additional guidance! Thanks!
