Fidelity Equity Research - Which team to choose?

Dear all,

I am lucky enough to land a summer equity research offer at Fidelity International Hong Kong office. Thanks everyone for your great posts.

I will be given a few sector teams to choose from. I was told by my friend that most of the attractive teams have already been chosen, so not many left for me to choose. Yet, I am just wondering if you have the choice, which industry you'll choose to cover? I have no particular interest in a specific sector, I'm simply looking for one that can set me into a right path to train myself up and get my research skills better.

Anything is appreciated. Thanks!

Agree with the above advice. If possible, try to find out more about the cultures of the various teams and pick one that has a good rep.

Assuming that's not possible, I would pick a generalist industry (i.e. "industrials" or "consumer") rather than something highly specialized such as biotech. This will give you a broader skill set and potentially the opportunity to look at many more companies.
