Direct Lending to L/S or LO

How tough is the path from direct lending to an L/S or LO hedge fund? I read on a separate thread that it isn't too common for someone to make this move since direct lending is credit-facing, but I imagine the skills needed in DL to mitigate downside risks and maintain portfolio performance would be transferable. Any insights are appreciated!

I see some version of this question all the time.

Your job is irrelevant. Why do people not typically go from direct lending to LO LS investor? Because people that go into direct lending are not the ones who are typically interested in LS LO investing. Make yourself a formidable candidate for a LS or LO seat and you’ll find a job eventually. Credit skills transferable to LO or LS credit shops as well.
